Responsible Surrogacy

Information regarding the ethical aspects of the process

Since the birth of twins is relatively common in surrogacy, we recommend implementing a clause concerning the monetary implications in case of twins within the surrogacy agreement. Carrying twins includes increased risks for the surrogate such as hypertension, ectopic pregnancy, increased bleeding during birth and diabetes as an intercurrent disease. Also, this type of pregnancy is more difficult and requires greater efforts on account of the surrogate. Sometimes bearing more than one child requires a cesarean section, which also entails more risks. For these reasons, it is customary in most agencies to compensate the surrogate for carrying more than a single fetus.
